BARTSHARP Airbrush® 180

The BARTSHARP Airbrush® 180 is a pen style dual action, gravity top feed airbrush.

Dual action: push down, on the trigger for air, and pull back, on the trigger, for paint.

The 180 airbrush is fitted with a 0.2mm needle and nozzle set and is the best choice for creating fine detail work. It is most commonly used by those wishing to create detailed artistic work, scale models, wargaming figures, diorama etc.

A 0.3mm needle and nozzle set can also be fitted for use when creating less detailed work, alternatively a 0.5mm needle and nozzle set can be used for the laying down of washes and top/base coats.

A needle adjust screw is fitted to the rear handle which allows the user to set how far the airbrush needle is able to move back. This feature allows lines of the same thickness to be created repeatedly (as long as the airbrush tip remains at the same distance from the project surface) and is invaluable for creating shadow lines in scale model builds.

Another fantastic feature is the micro air control valve situated under the front of the airbrush which gives fingertip control over the volume of air passing to the airbrush needle and nozzle. This allows for the creation of paint effects such as stippling and weathering.

BARTSHARP Airbrush®, unlike many other airbrush sellers, stocks a huge range of spares and accessories.

The BARTSHARP Airbrush® has a 1/8BSP male air inlet.

1/8 is approximately 9.35mm diameter and BSP stands for British Standard Pipe (type and pitch of thread). BSP is the most common thread type used in airbrushing.

The paint cup has a 9cc paint capacity; it also has a push fit lid.

I’ve used many different brands of airbrushes, and currently own a Harder & Steenbeck Evolution amongst others. I’ve looked at the Bartsharp 180 for some time, and decided to purchase it when my Ultimate Apex gave up the ghost.
I must admit that I wasn’t expecting the Bartsharp 180 to be as good as the Apex, and was even more shocked that it actually out performs the Evolution when it came to detail work, pre-shading, etc!
I’m a bit annoyed that I didn’t buy this airbrush before shelling out 3x more on the Evolution, but it serves me right for being a ‘kit snob’!
The only thing that lets the 180 down is the standard Chinese airbrush case which just looks a bit bulky, cheap and nasty… but that’s just me being picky as it’s the content that matters, and the 180 sure delivers in bucket loads.

This is a great airbrush for the price point. Build quality and performance is easily on par with branded contemporaries from the mainstream brands.

Capable of fine lines to wide coverage – even with the 0.2mm needle/nozzle combo – and with a range of features to help tweak the air and paint flow.

All in all I’m very impressed.

Great little workhorse got the 0.2 needle and does the job. I found it easy to use even with my nackerd hands I could use the trigger on top. I did add a air filter or whatever there called to the airbrush to use like a pistol grip to help. But a great airbrush if you’re starting out or more experienced value for money 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
